I received confirmation this week that the planned Indoor Double Ironman that Billy Dyer and I have been thinking about has been given the go ahead. This will entail a 4.8 mile Row, 224 mile cycle and a 52 mile run.
The event will take place on the Bank Holiday weekend of 24/25th August. Location Route 2 Fitness, Devizes. http://route2fitness.co.uk/ Both Billy and I will be raising funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, a worthwhile charity.
We are hoping to register the event with Guinness World Records.Watch this space for further updates.
February has been a strange month, I was out cycling last week and got knocked off my bike, fortunately I only came away with whiplash however my racing bike may be a right off as there seems to be a crack in the Carbon. I’m just hoping the insurance company will come good! This has stopped me training temporarily which I’m slightly worried about as White Cliffs 100 is less than 3 weeks away. Some forced rest may do me some good though!
I received a message on Facebook the other day from a friend who I spent time with in the Royal Marines, his Father in Law is planning on putting a team together for the Marathon des Sables, and was I interested in being involved in some capacity. Naturally I said yes, the MDS has always been on my list of things to do, I first remember watching a programme about the event when I was 17 , I was hooked and back then I made a promise to myself that one day I would complete this event. This dream nearly came true in 2005 when I paid my deposit to enter however due to a change in personal circumstances I had to withdraw. I’m really hoping that I will be given the opportunity to take part in this iconic event in the future.
Yesterday I was given a place in the Brighton Marathon on April 14th, I would really like to get closer to the three hour marathon mark but this is not the priority this year so I will be soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the race.
Onwards and Upwards!
